July 20,2014.. Well we saw a lot this week from Moab,
Utah to Durango, Colorado. Lots of pretty high mountains to climb but there is a
downside too!! We stopped in Moab for 3 days to see Arches and then moved on to
Durango, Colorado. In Durango we arrived friday at Junction Creek in the San
Juan National Park. We found a campsite 2 miles back a very dusty road for 4
nights at $9.50/nite with no hookups. But the mountain is cool at night down to
55* and 80* during day but we are in tall trees.
On Saturday , we drive 45 miles to Mesa Verde Park to see
the cliff dwellings that Pueblos built over 1,000 years ago. I signed up for a
Balcony House Tour, it is $4.00 for the Ranger tour. Carol’s knees would not be
able to climb 32 step ladder and also crawl 12 feet thru a 2 foot square tunnel.
I barely did the crawl, but I squeezed down to a size 8 to get thru? The whole
tour was very Interesting and I am glad I did it..but warning it was a tough
climb and crawl. here are my pictures..enjoy..
