Mud Sales, Museums, & Trains Too !!

 Gordonville Fire Co. Mud Sale
 Landis Valley Museum
  Train Museum at Strasburg,Pa.

March 9,2014... We are home now and there is so much to see locally too. This weekend I was Busy !! I went to Gordonville Fire Co. Annual Mud sale on Saturday... Yes there was Mud everywhere in the field of sale items. The food lines were a mile long. There were several auctioneers working at the same time .. quilts, buggy's, parts, furniture, horse sales, etc. I enjoyed walking around seeing the sights and taking a few pictures. My shoes had 2-3 inches of mud on them, I cleaned the most off by rubbing the shoes in snow banks and walking in clear water too.
On Sunday , I left for the Pa. State museums as they were Free today. I went to Landis Valley Museum, it has been years since I have been there...Lots to see...I even rode the horse drawn wagons around the grounds. I took a few pictures here too.
Next I drove to the Strasburg Pa. Railroad Museum, I had to hurry as they close at 5 pm. I arrived at 4 and had enough time to see all the old trains here too. Here are the pictures for you to see...

Savannah, Georgia Downtown Tour

March 3, Monday, today we drove into town to see downtown Savannah. We boarded the Old Town Trolley Tours on the orange trolley.  There are 3 different  trolleys for our business, but the one we took looked the most poplar one. There were 15 stops along the way. We all had a map showing all the stops. The tickets were $27.00 each for adults. Free parking included for our Van.

You could get on and off as much as you like. Every 20 minutes there was another trolley coming. We waited till the river front to get off and walk the riverfront along shops and Pubs too. We stopped at a Pub for a lunch. Delicious Club sandwich with potato salad was our choice. Then we walked along the river seeing the sights of people and tour boats too.

There were street artists also, we heard saxophone playing , guitar playing and also a beautiful voice singing from one of the above patio Pubs. We boarded the trolley for the return trip thru stop #15.

We then had time to take the trip again for a 90 minute tour. This time we sat on the other side of the trolley so we could see the sights on the left. Each driver had stories to tell along each stop which we got to hear again. This time we stayed on the trolley the whole time. Again I took a few pictures today...  https://picasaweb.google.com/AirstreamHobo/SavannahGa3314#

Just Traveling down the Highway

Well , we are winding down our stay in Florida and heading to Georgia.
While in Florida, we took in many things. We volunteered at GKTW for 5 weeks. It was a lot of fun meeting Wish Families and other Volunteers. There is a lot going on at the Village, many volunteers just completed an extreme make over of 80 villas and brought them up to date. They are most beautiful villas now.
There is plans to make a new Town Hall this year opening up in March of 2015. I attended a volunteer meeting and got to meet the President, Pam Landwirth. She is a Delightful lady that has the Wish Families at Heart !! Many suggestions were made as well as accomplishments done in the past announced. This was a fruitful meeting for all.
Then there was a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held on Valentines Day at the Gingerbread House. The staff served all the volunteers a meal of pancakes or waffles with strawberries and cool whip with a drink...Yum Yum. I met ladies(and men too) that volunteer here every week doing the same job for years.Thousands of hours are contributed every year by volunteers. You should come here also and help, I know you will come back again & again.
We left Florida on Feb 27th to head “North” we made it to Favers Dyke State Park south of St. Augustine,Fl. There we met my sister, Reba for a few hours. We had lunch and took her back to the airstream at camp. She watched us hook up and leave the park. We dropped her off at her car and said our Good-byes... Miss you already Sis !!
We headed north to Georgia and stopped at a favorite state park of Fort McAllister. There is plenty of sites and they are all loop pull thru. The Hosts really keep this park clean !!   We talk to them and get ideas for Savannah tours. We decided to go to the Downtown Trolley Tours on Monday March 3. This was a fun day...see next story. We planned to stay here for a week and then head north by the end of the week.Hope its warm in Penna??
There are a lot of pictures to show you from the past 2 weeks so I just put them all together with captions, see them here.. https://picasaweb.google.com/AirstreamHobo/SightsFromFloridaToGeorgia2014#
