June 5,2015 ..We leave the camp at 10 am as usual..heading for Illinois. When we cross the state line we always stop at Welcome Center for maps.While there a man came up to us to see if we were in the Airstream, he asked if we were headed to the Annual Bug Fest in Effingham ? I said whats that ? He explained that VW owners from all over are coming there for a Bug Fest. Did we want to see it? It's FREE..that's all I had to hear !!
The camping was free too, we pulled in on nice grassy field and parked next to him, Rob and his wife, Carol. She was driving the VW Cabriolet Convertible and he was driving the truck and camper. He had to pay $25.00 to register the VW and get his Goody Bag... wow the bag had lots of goodies, well worth the money.
Next Rob told me there was a road rally parade at 4pm and ask if I wanted to go along for the ride with them ... YES !! We drove about 15 miles around the countryside and ended up in Downtown Effingham Square for a big display for the town. We ate at the park too and walked around all other VW's for a sneak peak of them.I took alot of pictures on Friday so I will post part one here...
